Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is a concerning crime that can affect any child, and it occurs when offenders manipulate and groom young individuals to exploit them sexually. CSE can manifest in various ways, from what may appear as a 'consensual' relationship with an older partner to young people engaging in sexual activities in exchange for attention, gifts, alcohol, or cigarettes.

Child sexual exploitation poses significant risks to a victim's physical, emotional, and psychological well-being, even if they do not recognize it as such. Many young victims does not seek help as they perceive themselves as willing participants despite their inability to provide genuine consent.

How To Identify Pedophiles

Potential warning signs that may indicate CSE include:

  • Significantly older friends
  • Unfamiliar individuals picking them up from home or school
  • Association with other vulnerable youngsters
  • Unexplained gifts or money
  • Secret mobile phone use
  • Sexually transmitted infections
  • Self-harm
